Our girls took to the road today for the trip to Dungarvan. An early 11am kick off, and it was Mooncoin who were awake first. On 2 minutes the deadlock was broken when Mollie Murphy slotted home from a corner. On 15 minutes another Molly, Molly Quinn doubled our lead. Our girls were in control of the game from the very start. Ella Brennan made it 3 nil on 35 minutes when she managed to keep her shot low and into the net. On the hour mark Aoibhe Rees put her mark on the game when she made it 4. Dungarvan got a consolation goal shortly after but the result was never in doubt. All 17 girls that travelled got good game time and all played they’re part. Great team performance. Let’s keep it going girls.
A hugely entertaining game against neighbors Piltown with little or nothing between the two sides. Both sides made loads of chances that should have been put away but it was one of those days. Piltown started to dictate the run of the game after 20 mins but against the run of play. Liam Mackey gave a beautiful thru ball to Marcos to leave him 1 on 1 with the keeper. After a great attempted save Marcos Bometon found the corner of the net. Again Piltown stepped it up and equalised before half time deservedly. After the break we started to find more space in behind the defenders and we started created some chances. Lots of which we should have converted. Fortunately we did take the lead with Liam Mackey putting us 2-1 up. Piltown didn’t give and kept coming at us but we were after finding a bit of an edge upfront. Emmett Cusack had a few chances but was clear on goal and taken down in the box. Liam Mackey converted the penalty to put us 3-1 up. Both teams finished off the game with more chances to score but we held out for the 3 points with the game being steadied by our three subs. Great team performance all round but and a few stand out ones in Micheal Murphy, Ben Buckley, Josh McLaughlin, Cian O’Leary and a safe pair of hands in goal Emily Blackmore. Man of the Match must go to Liam Mackey.. All credit to the team. Emily Blackmore, Cian O’Leary, Cormac Fenton, Gavin Coady, Ben Buckley, Josh McLaughlin, Lucas Delahunty, Micheal Murphy, Liam Mackey, Marcos Bometon, Emmett Cusack. Subs who came one were Ben Dawson, Adam Corcoran, Eoghan Drennan. Huge praise for a very good Piltown team and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Our u14girls traveled to Ballinroad today hoping to keep their unbeaten run intact. It was a very close game and we weren’t at our best. Siobhan scored the first with a great strike. Ballinroad equalised close to half time after the ball fell kindly from a free kick. Lexi put away a penalty on the stroke of half time, when Siobhan was taken down in the box after a great run at the Ballinroad defence. Second half saw both teams create chances and our opposition got the equaliser. Sophie Phelan was determined for Mooncoin to take all three points, and scored a fantastic individual goal. Final score 2-3 to Mooncoin.
A very poor start cost us dearly in this one with Crystal two up within 10 minutes thanks to poor goalkeeping and defending. Second half was much better but our finishing was off today. Crystal sealed the game in the last ten minutes with another soft goal given up. One of those days unfortunately.
A cold breezy evening in Tramore saw a first outing for a few weeks for this determined group. The first half saw Lexi get our first goal, which was quickly followed with our second by Sophie with Briona finishing off the half with our third. Second half saw two more goals through Ciara and an og came from a Briona corner. Credit to both teams on a cold evening and Tramore for battling away throughout and hit the woodwork twice themselves. Good three points on the road.
Join us this coming Sunday for an 11am Kick Off in the RSC. The ladies take on Bohemian’s in the first game of three in the Winter League Play Offs. All support as always Most Welcome . €5 Admissions on the Day
Mooncoin and Benfica went head to head this evening in a delayed fixture in the Women’s Winter league
Our young squad and a couple of not so young squad members took to the pitch in Ozier. Benfica got off to a flyer when they scored on the 10 minute mark . But Mooncoin reacted well and a set piece taken by Shauna Mullowney was sent to the back of the net off the boot of Emily Blackmore, who timed her strike just right . Some sloppy defending from ourselves saw us concede three goals before the break to see us go in 4-1 down at half time. The second half was a much better half from us and we played some very good football . Pressing more with our passing and communication much improved on the first half display. Benfica added a fifth to their tally 15 mins in . We introduced our subs into the game . Caoimhe Power and Ella Brennan making an immediate impact . We added a second goal to the scoresheet halfway through the half when Ella Brennan took possession of a ball on the halfway line ….. she took off down the wing , spotting Emily in an advantageous position she played the ball out in front of her . Emily was first to the ball and headed towards goal , and with the advancing benfica keeper , she made sure to take her shot at the right time and slotting to the bottom right corner with a lovely left foot finish . Stand out performances tonight from Sommer Grant , Kate Mcgrath, Shaunna Mullowney, and Emily Blackmore with every player putting in a massive effort.
Our U10 girls travelled to Ballinroad this morning and played out an exciting game in lovely spring conditions with lots of goals scored by both teams, Kate C getting a hat trick for our girls. Happy crew and coaches after this one.
12 young ladies had an early start on Saturday morning as they headed to Ballymackey in Tipperary for this u17 Munster Cup fixture.
We were lucky enough to be afforded the chance to travel by bus .
And the trip was Kindly sponsored by
Crokes Shop Bubbles and Bows . Costcutters Hillary Delehunty
It’s fantastic to see local Buisness supporting local clubs , and our girls were thrilled with the day Out .
The girls took to the pitch against a strong North Tipp outfit . And although going toe to toe with the opposition. Two quick goals in the first fifteen mins left us chasing the game . On the 38 minute mark BallyMackey added a third and two minutes later Emily Blackmore gave us some hope when she slotted to the Back of the net after a slick through ball from Molly Long .
We played much better in the second half in heavy conditions . With both teams adding a goal each to their tally . With Ella Brennan scoring for Mooncoin Celtic . The game ended 4-2 to Ballymackey .
A huge thanks to the young ladies that travelled today .
And to our hosts for the hot beverages and refreshments.
Saturdays game was refereed by a young man called Bobby O Connor . Who has been officiating games for almost 2 years . The performance from the man in the middle was suberb today . His handling of the game and both teams is to be admired and applauded. It’s very seldom that two teams leave the field with high praise for a referee.
Best of Luck to BallyMackey in the next round .
Also a massive thanks to Darren Lyons for his sponsorship of todays Match Ball .
A trip to high flying De La Salle on a miserable Saturday morning where the boys will feel unlucky not to come away with any points with a missed penalty from us and a soft goal given away for the De La Salle opener. Credit most go to all players for playing in torrential conditions.
