U11A Boys League:
Villa 2 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

A flat first half was to prove costly for this side who had gone 6 games unbeaten up until today.

A scrappy goal midway through the half saw Villa take the lead and we didn’t really trouble the home keeper in the first half.

Second half was a different story with the boys dominating and Villa relying on the break.

The post was to stop Ryan Sutton equalising and Jack Twomey rattled the crossbar with a bullet header to deny us while we had numerous corners with no luck and unfortunately Villa broke in the last minute to grab the three points.

U11F Boys League: Mooncoin Celtic record win vs St. Joseph’s

TJ was captain today as the lads put 7 goals away in a game played in wet cold conditions.

It would have been far more but for the heroics of the St. Joseph’s goalie particularly before the break. Shane scored the first two, the first one slotted away after a lovely pass from Eoin B.

The second was another tidy finish after his first shot was saved. Goal 3 was an unfortunate backpass with their keeper wrong-footed. Liam opened the second half scoring with a low hard shot from the edge of the box which the keeper let through his legs.

His next effort was saved by the keeper and bundled over the line by Donncha. Some great midfield play from Donncha saw him put Billy through on goal with the keeper to beat and he made no mistake with an unerring strike into the top corner.

The goal of the day however was from Eoin W who, as the ball fell to him outside the area whipped the ball into the keeper’s right giving him no chance.

3rd Division League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 2 Villa

An entertaining game played in sunny conditions this morning between two mid table teams.

Villa got an early penalty after a misjudged bounce caught Derek Tebay off guard and forced a foul. We responded quickly with the impressive Jonny Power causing trouble in the villa box to force our own penalty which Sean Grace buried.

The game swung from end to end throughout and we looked to have nicked the three points through Kieran Fagan but a late late corner was rifled home for a share of the spoils. First game in 6 weeks but no sign of rustiness from our boys today.
