Pictured before a recent league match are our Ladies team who are sporting a new strip which is a throwback to the original club colours . The purchase of this strip was covered by the Local Enhancement Grant 2024 under Kilkenny County Council. In the coming months, it is planned for all our teams to revert back to the original colours of 1968.
Hi Everyone , so just a quick update on where we are at with our event.
The final figures on what we made and will be donating to Epilepsy Ireland in Kate’s name will be released tomorrow night. ๐๐ It’s very exciting and we are blown away by the success of the event.
So with that we have to mention a huge thanks to our sponsors of the day
Peter Brennan of Ashgrove Transport David Brennan of Eastgate Engineering Comerford’s Bar Mooncoin The Rose of Mooncoin Brandoรญn De Paor at Emerald Tiles Clonmel Colm and Louise Lehane
Without the above generosity the day could not have been such a success with marquee, toilets, music, bar, tuck shop, DJ and all the little things that made it so special. We are so grateful for your support ๐ ๐
It is amazing to see people get behind this special cause for something so dear to Mooncoin Celtic AFC women’s team and it will ever be forgotten, it was the first time organising an event like this so again thank you all so much for the support ๐ ๐ ๐
A massive thank you also to the teams that came and helped make it such a special day. Benfica FC, Kilmacow FC, Kilmac AFC, Abbeyside AFC, Piltown FC we hope to see you all again next year. Also thanks to both Portlaw utd FC and Park Rangers AFC who couldn’t make it on the day but gave generous donations
All in Mooncoin Celtic would like to wish the very best for the future to Michael and Alice Blanchfield who finished in their roles as not just owners of Centra Mooncoin but also as the custodians of the main hub in our village. Covid 19 was to prove challenging for so many in our country, but Blanchfields were to the forefront in helping people locally and really excelled in how they helped the community during a very trying period. Any shop that can sell one winning Lotto ticket is special but to sell two in the space of a few years was something else and will forever be in the history books (We still can’t believe it wasn’t the 300 club syndicate) . As a club, we are extremely grateful for the support Michael and Alice showed us over the years in whatever way they could. Best of luck and good health going forward.
Last Sunday we held our annual soccer marathon which was followed by our end of season awards. A big crowd came through our new gates and enjoyed a lovely sunny afternoon with plenty of fun had among coaches and players in all games and cross bar challenges. We finished with our player of the year awards for season 2022 /2023. A big thanks to everyone that helped set up for the day, Wild Willow Coffee Trailer for pitching up for the day and our two chefs Adam Cunningham and Mark Quinn for running the BBQ. Thanks must go to Mondo’s Takeaway for sponsoring our crossbar challenge prizes. Final thanks goes to everyone that sponsored our Soccer Marathon, it was very much appreciated.
We had an eye in the sky during the week to showcase some of the work done in the last 12 months at a cost of just under โฌ160,000.
None of this would have been possible without the support of everyone in our 300 club and everyone supporting our 50 50 draw. Thank you for your continued support.
Next Sunday (July 30th) at the third time of asking, we will hold our Soccer Marathon in Suir Cresent from 2-5.30 followed by the presentation of our end of season awards.
Wild Willow Coffee Trailer will be on site as well as a BBQ overseen by our two club chefs.
We would like to thank all of the people to date who have contributed sponsorship via the link and urge all to share the link with friends and family that might support our club.
