Ladies Munster Cup Cahir Park AFC 1-6 Mooncoin Celtic

Our ladies team made the trip to Cahir on Saturday afternoon for a Munster Cup clash with Cahir Park . Recording our Ladies team first ever win in a Cup
Competition .
The girls got off to a flyer on the 15 minute mark when Emily Blackmore finished from a superb Sommer Grant pass . Adding to the tally on the 25 min mark when Sommer delivered a corner to the box where Emily was waiting to calmly volley home . Our back four of Grace O Toole , Kate McGrath and Niamh Reddy , led by Amy Lehane really settled into the game clearing and extinguishing any threat from the home team . On 35 mins, Sommer was yet again the conductor and sent a fast ball through to Becky Derwin to dispatched the ball to the back of the net .
The second half was every bit as lively and eventful as the first. Shaunna Mullowney played a key role in mid field along with Bethany Carroll and both ladies dictated the play for much of the game , on the 50 minute mark Emily scored her third of the day with a shot outside the box . The introduction of subs freshened us up , with all the girls making an impact . Becky completed her hatrick on 80 mins with a through Ball from Sommer to the over lapping Kate Mcgrath who pulled the ball back for Becky to slot home . Stand out Performances on the day from … Sommer, Bethany, Shaunna and our hatrick duo of Emily and Beckey. Well done girls

Thank you

Today, we bid farewell to our Ladies player Kate Corcoran as she will be laid to rest after 1pm mass in Kilmacow. A dark cloud has hung over the club since last Sunday when news broke of Kate’s passing and all week we have been hugely heartened by the messages coming in from all over the country offering condolences to the Corcoran family and our club. From all the clubs in Waterford to Breaska Rovers in Limerick to Thomastown United in Kilkenny, the messages have come in. We wish to thank all clubs, leagues and people for personal messages across the week, it is very much appreciated. We will form a guard of honour before the funeral and would advise all that are attending to park at Kilmacow sports complex to free up parking for Family and friends at the church.

Heavy Heart

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of one our ladies team player’s, Kate Corcoran at the tender age of 21. A committed young lady who only started playing last year, training under the darker lights in Ashgrove ahead of our debut season in the Waterford league. There was never a session went by where Kate didn’t leave her mark, with her enthusiasm for a tackle shown on her team mates. Kate was one of the original girls who has stuck at it through good days and bad days, playing a key role in the establishment of our Ladies team alongside her little sister Ciara and stepmum Sarah, and starring in their first win up in Cahir in the lashing rain. Kate loved the rain, be it in training or matches as her team mates recalled this evening. As a ladies team and club, we are devastated beyond belief for the Corcoran family and will do our best in the coming days, weeks and months to help in anyway possible. Thank you must go to the following clubs Bohemians, Waterford Crystal, Tramore and Dungarvan United and all match officials for their understanding on Sunday morning when the news broke.
Rest in Peace Kate, a beautiful young woman taken far too soon.

First trip to Ballinroad for these lads in the u14B league this morning. Ballinroad were sharper today especially their centre forward who scored a peach of a goal in the second half to make it 4-1 and complete his hat trick. Sweet goal from the edge of the box for Naoise in his first foray in midfield. Conor was unlucky not to win a penalty in the first half. Final result was 4-1 to the home team.
