Massive congratulations

We want to send out massive congratulations to two young men this weekend who have done brilliantly for themselves and their families.
First up is Ben Brennan who won a silver medal in the European Weightlifting Federation U15 Cup out in Slovenia, lifting just over 100kgs which is phenomenal.

Next to be congratulated is Emmet Cusack. Emmet won the 4 Nations Gold, International Gold and Team Gold in Carlow today , and yesterday in Dublin competing in a different associations International Competition, he also won gold. Again a massive well done to Emmet.

Ladies League: Dungarvan United 3 – 0 Mooncoin Celtic

Our young side took on last seasons champions and should be very disappointed after the 90 minutes.

A very soft first goal conceded on 30 minutes after we had a few openings ourselves knocked us back but back we came and put it up to a very good Dungarvan side. Another defensive lapse saw a second goal on the hour mark and we were chasing the game from here on after being well in it.

A late third after another mistake put a gloss on the scoreline. A more experienced Dungarvan took their chances where we passed up a few of our own.

Good performances from Kate McGrath, Beth Kelly and Emily Blackmore were the highlights.

U12A Girls League: Mooncoin Celtic 2 – 1 Carrick United

A scorching evening in Suir Crescent and two evenly matched teams went at it for the hour entertaining the large attendance.

Carrick were quick out of the blocks and took an early lead but birthday girl Lexi Walsh continued her hot form with an equaliser. There wasn’t much between the two teams from here on with the game swinging from end to end with Olivia Cronin and Siobhรกn O’Donnell keeping Carrick at bay.

The next goal was always going to be the winner and Taylor Mahon popped up to secure the three points in the girls final league match.

Well done girls and from that team photo with smiles all around , I think we can see they went home happy.

U12A Girls League: Mooncoin Celtic 3 – 2 Villa

Something had to give this morning as these two teams started the morning in search of their first point of the season.

An even enough first half saw our girls take the lead from an own goal after a great delivery by Lexi Walsh. Villa responded with a tidy finish of their own just before half time.

A different mooncoin team appeared in the second half and brilliant displays from our back three and Courtney O’Shea Power saw us go 3-1 ahead with goals from Courtney and Taylor but villa came back and scrambled a second goal to leave a nervous finish but solid goalkeeping and defending saw the girls secure their first win.
