After last weeks promising point against Southend, the lads travelled to Dungarvan in good spirits but were well and truly given a lesson. 4-0 down at half time, things improved slightly in the second half.
U13 league result: Ballinroad 6 Mooncoin Celtic 1
A day to forget for Derek’s squad as a hungrier Ballinroad showed why they are serious contenders for league honours. 4-0 down at half time courtesy of some iffy offsides and soft defending. The second half saw an improved Mooncoin Celtic side come into the game more. Our goal came from Eoin O’Callaghan from the edge of the box where he chipped the keeper.
Sherwan fitted in well on the right side of defence as absentees forced a reshuffle.
Bad defeat for this team but no doubt they’ll be back on the training pitch more determined to show their true strengths in the next outing.
Boys u11
Our u11s large squad entertained Park Rangers in blustery conditions in Ashgrove but John Hearne and his crew were very happy with how this young group are maturing with lots of goals and some excellent football played.
U15 league result: St Paul’s 2 Mooncoin Celtic 1
A disappointing result in this top of the table clash where the wind and costly mistakes put a serious dent in the lads league ambitions. Rudi had the lads leading at half time but two errors in the second half had Paul’s in front but some near misses and poor finishing by the boys will leave the boys thinking what if? Still a bit to go in this league and they will keep plugging and hope some results go their way.
